01Infrastructure
The centre concentrates restaurants, cafés, shops, the Galeria Olimp and Galeria Alter shopping centres. Healthcare is provided by clinics and outpatient facilities near the Medical University of Lublin. Cultural venues — Lublin Castle, theatres and galleries — make the centre rich for everyday life.
02Transport
The centre of Lublin is excellently served by buses and trolleybuses; the main transport routes run through it. Much is in walking distance; parking is paid and limited.
03Housing and prices
Historic kamienice and post-war development dominate, with occasional new apartments. Prices are the highest in Lublin but moderate by the standards of large Polish cities.
04Schools and kindergartens
The centre and surroundings host the Catholic University of Lublin, UMCS, the Medical University, prestigious lycées and language centres. Very popular with students.
05Safety and atmosphere
The centre is well lit and lively, safe by day and evening. Tourist blocks of the Old Town get noisy in the evenings — worth considering when choosing a specific street.
