About the district

There is no direct rail or air connection: the nearest airport, Issyk-Kul, is 35 km to the west in Tamchi. Buses and minibuses link Cholpon-Ata to Bishkek (about 3 hours), Balykchy and other lakeside settlements. Getting around inside the city means taxis or walking — distances are short.
