01Infrastructure
Each micro-district is self-sufficient: shops, pharmacies, playgrounds, a polyclinic, and a school are all within the block. Megobroba (Friendship) Avenue is the main axis of New Rustavi, with shops, banks, and cafés. Shopping centres and markets line the main streets.
02Transport
A direct highway to Tbilisi (25 km) is one of Rustavi's main advantages. Minibuses to Tbilisi run every 15–20 minutes. Bus services connect the micro-districts within the city. Many Rustavi residents treat it as a Tbilisi suburb.
03Housing and prices
Soviet nine-storey blocks make up the bulk of the housing stock; many buildings have had their facades renovated. New residential complexes are being built in micro-districts 11, 20, and 21. Prices are among the lowest in Georgia: Soviet-era flats — $400–700 per sq m; new builds — $700–1,000.
04Schools and kindergartens
Each micro-district has its own state school and kindergarten. More than 20 schools in New Rustavi. Several vocational colleges and universities are in the city.
05Safety and atmosphere
A large, well-established city with a settled social life. Generally safe. Lighting on the main streets is good. The city's industrial past has left an environmental legacy, but residential quarters are away from the factories.
