01Infrastructure
David Aghmashenebeli central square, the White Bridge over the Rioni river, numerous cafés and restaurants, banks, shops, and a city market. The State Museum of Imereti, the drama theatre, and the stadium are all within walking distance. The Kutaisi State University campus is nearby.
02Transport
The centre is the city's main transport hub. Minibuses and buses from all districts converge here. Kutaisi-1 railway station is in the centre. David Aghmashenebeli International Airport (Kutaisi Airport) is 17 km to the east.
03Housing and prices
Restored 19th-to-20th-century buildings sit alongside Soviet apartment blocks and a handful of modern infill new builds. Prices are above those in the residential outskirts, but comparable to similar locations in Georgian regional centres.
04Schools and kindergartens
Several city schools and gymnasiums, Kutaisi State University, and a technical university are all within walking distance. Well served for students and families alike.
05Safety and atmosphere
The city centre is well lit and patrolled. Tourist and business activity makes the area lively but safe. The atmosphere is that of a calm provincial city centre.
