01Infrastructure
Lasnamäe is home to Ülemiste City (the Baltic states' largest business park), Ülemiste Centre, Astri Keskus, and Lasnamäe Centrum shopping malls. Health clinics, pharmacies, markets, and supermarkets are all within easy reach. The part of the district along the St Petersburg highway is partly industrial.
02Transport
The main artery is Laagna tee (four lanes each way), served by frequent buses. Routes 5, 5A, 17, 17A, 35, 38, 45, and 55 connect Lasnamäe to the city centre; the journey to Kesklinn takes 15–25 minutes.
03Housing and prices
Soviet panel blocks of 5–16 storeys, built between the 1970s and 1990s. Lasnamäe offers the largest selection of affordable housing in Tallinn: the lowest rental rates of any city district, combined with well-developed infrastructure.
04Schools and kindergartens
A range of state schools offering instruction in both Estonian and Russian, plus several kindergartens. The district has a traditionally strong Russian-language educational environment.
05Safety and atmosphere
A settled residential area; the district's reputation is linked to its Soviet past, but today Lasnamäe is a safe and well-established neighbourhood. Street lighting is good and the atmosphere is family-friendly.
