01Infrastructure
Männikuste sits beside Lake Tõhela (Tõhela järv) — Estonia's 15th largest lake at 338 hectares. The eastern shore has a public beach with a volleyball court, children's play area, and observation tower. Amenities within the village itself are minimal: grocery shops and pharmacies are in the nearest towns or central Pärnu, 15–20 km away.
02Transport
Männikuste is car-dependent: public transport is limited to a few suburban services. A private vehicle is essential for comfortable daily travel. The journey to central Pärnu takes around 15–20 minutes by car; Tallinn is approximately 2 hours via the E67 motorway.
03Housing and prices
The housing stock in Männikuste consists of private houses, cottages, and small guesthouses by the lake. Property prices are lower than in central Pärnu; the area attracts those seeking peace, nature, and a plot of land of their own.
04Schools and kindergartens
There are no schools or kindergartens in Männikuste itself; children attend educational institutions in Pärnu or nearby villages. Families with children must have access to a private vehicle.
05Safety and atmosphere
A rural setting with low population density (around 100 residents according to the 2011 census). Crime is virtually non-existent; the atmosphere is calm and secluded. Safety is one of the main draws of village life by the lake.
