01Infrastructure
The Žižkov Television Tower dominates the skyline, housing a restaurant and viewing platform. Olšany Cemetery, several independent cafés and bars, and supermarkets on Seifertova round out the offer. Everyday infrastructure (pharmacies, bakeries, markets) is well developed.
02Transport
Metro line A (green): Jiřího z Poděbrad, Flora, and Želivského serve the district from three sides. Tram 15 provides a handy link to the centre. To Wenceslas Square — about 10 minutes.
03Housing and prices
Multi-storey apartment buildings from the late 19th and early 20th century predominate, often in need of renovation. Prices are lower than in Vinohrady, making the district popular with students, artists, and young families.
04Schools and kindergartens
Several state primary schools and grammar schools, private kindergartens. Proximity to Vinohrady and Flora broadens the choice of educational institutions.
05Safety and atmosphere
Žižkov was historically considered rough, but has changed significantly over the past 15 years: the district has become safer and cleaner. Ordinary urban caution in some backstreets at night is still advisable.
