01Infrastructure
Wide chestnut-lined boulevards, parks, and gardens give Poruba its distinctive character. Several large supermarkets (Albert, Kaufland), the Avion Shopping Park in neighbouring Zábřeh, clinics, sports complexes, and a cultural centre are all within the district.
02Transport
Trams 4, 7, 8, and 9 run directly from Poruba to the Ostrava city centre in 25–30 minutes. A bus line to Leoš Janáček Airport. Cycle paths along the boulevards are a popular commuter route for VŠB students.
03Housing and prices
Characteristic five-storey Socialist Realist buildings from the 1950s–1960s with high ceilings and solid brickwork, partly renovated. Targeted new residential complexes are appearing near the tram depot. Purchase prices from 38,000 to 62,000 CZK per sq m; two-bedroom rents 10,000–15,000 CZK per month.
04Schools and kindergartens
VŠB — Technical University of Ostrava campus with several faculties directly in Poruba. Grammar schools and primary schools in every residential sector. A developed kindergarten network.
05Safety and atmosphere
One of Ostrava's safest and most peaceful districts. The student community, wide green boulevards, and dense residential fabric create a secure atmosphere. Good lighting on all main streets.
