01Infrastructure
Central Qəbələ has hotels, restaurants, markets, banks, polyclinics and shops. The Tufandağ ski resort, a water park and mountain recreation zones are nearby. Tourist and resort infrastructure is significantly more developed here than in most other regional centres of the country.
02Transport
The city has its own airport with direct flights from Baku, plus bus services to the capital (about 3 hours each way). Public transport within the city is modest, and most residents rely on private cars.
03Housing and prices
The housing stock includes private houses, cottage settlements, dachas and a small number of apartment buildings. The recent tourist boom has spurred construction of new cottages and guest houses; the property market is active and prices are noticeably lower than in Baku.
04Schools and kindergartens
The city has state schools, gymnasiums and kindergartens. The educational infrastructure is sufficient for the local population; students usually move to Baku to study.
05Safety and atmosphere
Qəbələ is a calm provincial city with low crime. Tourist activity in season raises liveliness, but the atmosphere remains comfortable and safe.
